I write sci-fi adventure novels, and read sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, mystery, urban fantasy, or whatever else stirs my interest, including a fair amount of non-fiction. My spare time is often spent hiking or Netflix-ing (Is that a word?).
Born in Texas, I lived out of state and out of the country for a time, but now I’m home once again. I’ve worked as a bookseller, a research library assistant, a military computer network expert, and many other jobs through the years. Experience is the lifeblood of a writer: sat in the back of a cargo plane during a tactical dive to avoid RPG fire (check); been invited to lunch in an undisclosed location by a CIA-connected colonel (check); adventure, disaster, elation, heartbreak (all checks).
In and out of university several times — history, computer science, and East Asian studies — I learned a thing or two, even a little Chinese. Eventually I settled into a position in international shipping and worked for twelve years, pursuing the writing craft in my spare time. After several early attempts in sci-fi, action/adventure, and thriller genres, I developed a character who felt compelling, and the Jake Mudd Adventures series was born.
The main series is Jake Mudd Adventures:
A former mercenary turned galactic cargo runner tries to get by and lay low with the crew of his A.I. space ship. But his conscience, questionable choices, and bad luck thrust him into the thick of trouble more than he’d like. And all too often, enemies hellbent on settling old scores make staying alive even harder.
